Cancer is an ever increasing problem in pets, as it is with humans.
If you go back to the year 1900, then you would have found that 1 out of every 100 people would get cancer. By the end of the 20th century, the rate was 1 out of every 3 people. Now, as of 2009, I heard a report saying that 2 out of every 5 people will get cancer. The rate just keeps increasing — we have to ask why? What are we, as humans, doing to cause this rate of cancer to increase both in humans and our pets?
Cancer can be very scary because we all know that cancer can ultimately mean death. None of us want to loose our pets to something like cancer.
Although it is possible to reverse cancer, it can also be very challenging. But on this page I am going to give some tips and suggestions regarding cancer and what can be done to help reverse and hopefully cure the cancer.
In my opinion, it is our responsibility and duty as loving pet guardians to do what we can to help our pets be cured of cancer (or other diseases) because that's what our pets would do for us — in fact, our pets provide us with medicine every day in the form of pure love and joy. But while it's our duty as responsible pet guardians to help our pets, it's also important to know and realize that we shouldn't let our pets suffer.
Since we shouldn't let our pets suffer, the first piece of advice that I give people is also the most difficult. It's important to know when it is time to put our pets down to prevent suffering. This is the sad reality that we must all face when it comes to cancer. You will know when this is necessary but hopefully this will not need to be an option.
Having experienced pets with cancer, I know first hand the emotional strain that seeing a pet with cancer can create. It's for this reason that I like to suggest that you keep a daily log book of how your pet is doing.
Keeping a log book is beneficial because on the days that you feel emotional and are wondering how your pet is doing, you can look back at your notes to make a non–emotional decision about your pet's actual state of well being.
Next, it's important, although very difficult to stay strong emotionally because ultimately fear does not help the healing process whereas love and peace do. When you are calm, your pet will be calm. If you are scared and spending all of your time worrying, then your pet will be concerned about you and will be focussed on your fear and your worrying. As a result, your pet cannot put its energy on healing. So be calm and at peace, even though this may be difficult. Let your dog focus on its own healing rather than having your pet waste its energy on trying to have you become calm because this is the natural instinct of a dog or cat — consider for a moment, when you are sad, who tries to cheer you up? Your pet of course. Your pet knows when to sit on your lap or to give you a kiss.
Now there are some simple things you can do to help a pet with cancer. One thing I like to suggest is color therapy!
Color therapy is a simple tool that allows you surround your pet with certain colors to help the healing process. For example, we all know that blue has a calming effect while red is stimulating. So what I suggest is that you go to your local library and get a book on color therapy. Learn which colors to use and which colors to avoid. You can then let your pet sleep on a blanket with certain colors. You can also energize water with color energy by wrapping a glass water jug in colored cellophane at leaving it exposed in the sun for 24 hours.
Color therapy is a simple yet beneficial tool.
Another tool that can be used is magnetic therapy. This healing tool has been used for thousands of years and dates back to ancient civilizations such as Persia (now Iran and Iraq) and ancient Egypt. Again, I would suggest getting a book from your local library about magnetic therapy and then applying it. All it requires is certain magnets and a basic understanding of how it works and this can become beneficial for your pet with cancer. You can also buy magnetic blankets now too.
Diet is one of the most important tools you can use to help your pet with cancer. Diet is the key to holistic healing and without a good diet, it's difficult for the body to heal. This is why I always suggest feeding a natural, raw meat diet to any pet with cancer. In fact, I promote a raw meat diet always because the cure and prevention are ultimately the same.
I also suggest that you give supplements such as calcium, enzymes, green foods, minerals and glandulars to pets with cancer. All of which can be found in my pet store. These are all important because the extra nutrition along with the digestive assistance that the enzymes provide help provide the extra nutritional fuel the body requires for healing. Throughout my book I talk about the importance of digestive enzymes, calcium, glandulars and minerals.
It's also advisable to contact a homeopathic vet to get some extra assistance. The homeopathic vets that are trained in classical homeopathy can also help suggest homeopathic remedies to help your pet.
Herbal and homeopathic remedies can help the body detoxify. There are numerous herbal remedies on the market to help the body with cancer. One of the most famous is the Essiac Remedy which can be found at most health food stores. Although the Essiac Remedy is beneficial, I am not sure if it is suitable for the cancers of today which are generally more powerful than the cancers of the early 1900's and earlier when the Essiac Remedy was created and used. Nonetheless, Essiac can still be given.
Sometimes people given a herbal remedy known as Flor–Essence instead of Essiac. But I do not suggest the Flor–Essence as it contains cress, which is okay, but over long term can cause some kidney problems. When it comes to cancer, the body does not die of the cancer per se, but rather of kidney failure as cancer puts a lot of stress on the kidneys.
In fact, years ago I heard a lady talk about her husband who cured himself of cancer yet died from taking an Aspirin because the Aspirin put too much stress on the kidneys. So we want to support the kidneys the best we can and that's why I prefer not to use Flor–Essence. Ultimately it's a personal choice.
There are many options for healing cancer from a herbal standpoint and so you can do some research and find the one you like best.
One herbal remedy you may want to consider is a traditional native remedy which is sometimes referred to as Compound X, also known as Two Feathers Healing Formula
. I've seen this herbal remedy remove a wart before and it can work, but I would get more information before using it because it can be a powerful detoxifier.
Whenever giving a herbal remedy to a pet, just remember to give a portion of the human dose. I give 10% of the human dose for every 10 pounds of weight. For example, if your pet weighs 20 pounds, then I would give 20% of the human dose — if your pet weighed 70 pounds, then I would give 70% of the human dose, etc.
Since cancer can put a lot of stress on the kidneys, it is important to support the kidneys and one of the best ways of doing this is by using a glandular supplement for the kidneys. The supplement I use and recommend is the Rena GO glandular supplement which should be used in combination with Pet GO which is a basic, all purpose glandular supplement that supports the whole body while the Rena GO supports just the kidneys.
Now cancer can be very scary not only because we all know that it can mean death, but also because cancer is, from a simple point of view, nothing more than too many toxins in the body and when the body begins to detoxify then weird, strange and scary things can happen.
Detoxification can be scary when the pet is relatively healthy and just getting rid of excess toxins. But when your pet has cancer and begins to detoxify, then the detoxification can be magnified to an even greater extent.
It's possible that your pet may become extremely lethargic — so much so that your pet might be completely listless. This can happen because the body is really needing to focus its energy on healing. When the body is feeling better, then the lethargy goes away.
Your pet may have extremely strong and foul smelling breath, urine or stools.
Your dog may not want to go for walks — it may look like it's in pain and discomfort.
The hair may fall out and then later grow back in — kidney stones may get dissolved and then later passed which can cause your pet to strain like it really needs to urinate but yet nothing happens until after the stones have passed.
Detoxification due to cancer can be extremely scary and can be very powerful.
When your pet has cancer, your pet will detoxify many times and so the experiences can happen many times meaning many scary events.
When these scary events happen, remember to do your best to stay calm and at peace as ultimately that will benefit your pet the most.
Since detoxification can be scary, it's again important to keep daily notes so you can review your notes to see what has happened in the past to help you make more logical and factual decisions rather than decisions based on emotion alone.
The difference between detoxification and illness can be a blurry. Detoxification is what happens when the body does what is needed to cure itself of illness while illness is what happens when the body cannot cure itself of illness. So the two are really the same and it can be difficult to distinguish when the body is in fact progressing and healing or when the body is suffering and weakening. It's not an easy thing to determine but this is why your daily notes are also beneficial.
