Sharing The Love With A Cat in Manila

I was in Manila to take care of some business. It's not my favourite city in the world and to be honest, if I don't have to go there, I would prefer not to go there. Nonetheless, I was there walking up San Miguel Avenue in the Ortigas district of Manila. I was walking to a restaurant to get some food after a long day of doing this and that.

As I was walking towards the restaurant, in a small road island was a cat, who decided to meow at me as I walked by. This cat, who I decided to name San Michelle, was starving — literally starving as the pictures below will show. She was skin and bones and her cry for food touched me right in my soft spot... my heart.

So, I went to the local supermarket, bought 250 grams of beef (1/2 pound) and went back to feed her. Of course, by the time I got back, it's possible she would no longer be there. However, my gut feeling said she would still be there.

When I got back, I called her and she came. I put the beef down and the rest, is as they say, history.

I would love to rescue this cat. But I have no way of getting her to my house. I can't put her on the plane nor the boat. She would have to go through quarantine to get to my house and there is a chance, they wouldn't let her through quarantine unless she was healthier. The reality is, after I leave to go home, she might die from starvation. But hopefully this meal will give her enough strength to catch some bigger meals. There is little I can do but feed her while here. So for the next five days, I will share a little bit of love with this cat.

I already have some chicken for her as I bought some chicken when I bought the beef. I wasn't too sure if she would like beef or chicken, but I suspected that because she is so hungry that she would eat whatever was put in front of her.

She ate almost all of the beef. She probably ate about 180 grams of beef. After she was done eating, she had a really nice stretch, then rubbed her face on the wall, came close to me and looked me straight in the eyes. She was a happy little putty cat as you will see in the pictures.

Truly, a wonderful cat and one that I would love to rescue and take home to be with me and my other rescued cats. But there is just nothing I can but share the love.

The next morning I went back to the same location but she was gone. I walked around looking for her but I could not find her. I am not sure where she went but at least I was able to provide one good meal.

I encourage you to do the same when the opportunity presents itself — share the love.

Sick Dog Becomes Healthy

2011-05-29

Thank you so very much for your on–line book. China, my 11 year old Shi–tzu has had food allergies for 9 years. I have spent thousands on diets and medicine but recently nothing worked. She was stinking like a cow pie under your nose even though I washed her twice a week with Rx shampoo. Her skin was hot to the touch and oily in just hours after a thorough bath not to mention the hair falling out all over. Anywhere the dog went she left her oily stink — the carpet, the furniture — it was a huge job just cleaning after her trying to keep the house smelling neutral. She was so miserable I considered putting her down as she couldn’t enjoy life and was a touch me not due to her allergies. I have spent countless hours searching for a way to feed my dog so as not to exacerbate her condition. One vet even suggested that she may be allergic to her own anal gland exudate!

Because of her allergies, I started her on just raw meat and warm water for one week and plan to add one ingredient a week until she is on a complete and healthy diet.

In just one week China is smelling and acting like her old self again. I am elated with the progress, I have seen in my dog, on your diet recommendations! China is even wagging her tail again! I can’t thank you enough for your on–line book — you have literally saved China’s life.

My Australian Shepherd Has A Second Life – Thank You!

2008-12-16

Hello! I would like to first say Thank You for your information! My Australian Shepherd is 14 years young and was having problems walking up stairs and jumping up on the bed/couch. He was on the raw food diet for about 2 – 3 weeks when he started running up the stairs, jumping on the couch/bed. Because of his age and having such a hard time, I was preparing myself for his trip to Rainbow Bridge, feeling that it would be sooner rather than later. Now I feel the later is the best word. He is so happy, you can see it in his eyes when he is lying on the couch!! My dogs teeth have turned white! It is truly amazing! Again, Thank you!

I'm Totally Sold On The Raw Meat Diet

2010-01-27

I'm totally sold on the raw diet in every way — health wise, time wise, even money wise — it is less than I was spending on wellness canned food.

And if it wasn't for all your information — your book — your website — your informative emails I would feel a bit more lost, but I don't because of everything you have provided. You have made me feel more confident about everything.

Thanks again for everything and I'll keep you posted! :)
